Photo policy
How we handle photographs on Habibi Lads trips.
Not everyone is out and proud, and photo mishandling is one of the easiest ways to break trust with a queer audience. This is how we avoid that.
Consent first, three options.
Before each trip, every guest picks one of three options on the pre-trip intake form. You can change your mind verbally on Day 1, in person, before any photos are taken.
Option A. Full consent.
You're happy to be photographed during the trip, including for public marketing and social media. Your photos may appear on our website, Instagram, and in future trip marketing.
Option B. Limited consent.
You're happy to be photographed for the private group photo album, but you do not want your photos used in any public marketing or on social media. Your photos stay inside the group.
Option C. No photos.
You opt out entirely. The photographer is briefed to never include you in framed shots. If you appear incidentally in a wider shot, the photographer crops you out or chooses a different frame.
How the photographer is briefed.
One week before each trip, the booked photographer receives a guest consent list with names and visual identifiers. The photographer signs a contract that includes explicit consent-handling clauses and an NDA. They are not permitted to share images outside of delivery to Habibi Lads, including for their own portfolio or social media, without explicit written approval from the guest.
How we use the photos afterward.
After each trip, you receive a shared photo album containing only images consistent with your consent option. Selected images are used in our marketing only where consent allows. We never tag a guest on social media without explicit per-photo permission, regardless of consent option.
What we ask of guests.
If you take photos during the trip and you want to post anyone else, ask them first. Other guests have varying consent preferences and not everyone is publicly out. The same care we apply, we ask of each other.
If something goes wrong.
If you believe a photo has been used in a way that violates your consent, write to [email protected]. We take this seriously, will remove the image immediately, and will address it with the staff member involved.
